The City of Virginia Beach builds its museum collection through gifts, transfers, and purchases by the Friends of the Virginia Beach Historic Houses. Additions to the collection are guided by a collections management policy that defines the scope of collections for each museum. Before any object is accessioned into the collection, consideration is given to its immediate and long-term conservation needs and suitability for exhibit.
