The Colonial Education Center and Lynnhaven House grounds may be the ideal location for your next celebration. This historic site is available for receptions, weddings, meetings and other events. Up to 300 guests can be accommodated outdoors and up to 150 guests accommodated indoors.

Lynnhaven House and Colonial Education Center

The Colonial Education Center at the Lynnhaven House is available for use from 5pm-11pm. Rental includes great room, kitchen and restrooms. The historic house is not available for viewing during the rental.
The Lynnhaven House grounds are available from 9am-11pm. A grounds rental is for a six-hour period. Grounds rental includes the use of the restrooms and kitchen.
Colonial Education Center rental:
Up to 50 people: $600
51-100 people: $1000
101-150 people: $1400
Lynnhaven House grounds rental:
Up to 100 people: $750
101-300 people: $1300
Meetings at the Colonial Education Center:
$25 per hour
Payment Schedule
All rentals must be made 30 days in advance.
The buildings and/or grounds are reserved only upon the receipt of a $100 security and damage deposit. The deposit is refundable provided all terms of the Rental Agreement have been met by lessee and post-reception inspection by staff is satisfactory.
A signed rental agreement must be submitted 20 days prior to the event.
Payment in full of the rental fee is due 10 days prior to the event.
The buildings and grounds must be vacated by 11pm. All guests, catering personnel, entertainers, and individuals associated with the event must be off the premises by this time.
Insurance Requirements
Any individual interested in renting the buildings and/or grounds must have proof of insurance. Individuals may add the City of Virginia Beach as additional insured to their homeowner’s policy or purchase the City’s Tenant User’s Liability Insurance Policy for $75.
Proof of Insurance is required for any outside source bringing goods on site for the rental. This includes caterers and disc jockeys. If evidence of insurance cannot be provided, renters must purchase the Tenant User’s Liability Insurance Policy.
If liquor is to be served, additional insurance must be purchased along with any license required by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
